Wednesday January 26 - Snow day! What a mess! It took me three hours to get to a training for work in the morning, then I had to work ALL DAY! I finally got home, and, like you do, made "banging-a**" muffins for the bar. I got there around 7:00, but was WAY behind, as many friends started at 4:00! Good grief, but very fun, I love laughing with drunk people. There was talk of naked snow angels, or skinny-dipping in the creek, but the consensus was "NO!!!" Later we had a dance party, and E showed me how to "Bop", which caused B to say "You B*tch!" (I think she was jealous of my sweet groove, LOL, but no hard feelings:) A and I tortured the bartender with Q102-style dance hits, but it was worth it to see C sing along to "Take it off!" Also, a sspecial thanks to D for help with The Stinger.
At some point late in the snowy evening a lone car sat on Garrett Road. You might think that it would have stayed there... WRONG! With the help of a dozen people, the car went around the block. But then a caring voice rang-out in the night "You don't want to get a D.U.I.!!!" so everybody walked home. There may have been snow angels after all;-)
Saturday January 29 - Field Trip!
Well, maybe not the most successful field trip, but live and learn, and we all had fun anyway. It started at 2312, then we road in style (in the Range Rover) downtown to Cherry Street Tavern. It was small, dead, and inexpensive, and I'm sure to some people it is as happy and comfortable as our bar. And hey, they had peperoni with Ritz crackers and American cheese, and really good horseradish. And we moved on to ---> the Piano Bar, which was closed. We passed Mission Grill <---- , and since the Piano bar was closed, we headed back there. They had a special kind of gin made with sunflowers which many of us tried, but then the meat-heads came in, so we began to formulate a Plan B. Plan B constituted going dancing at Woody's, but we couldn't get it to stick, so on to Plan C, and we lost half our party. The cool kids moved on to ----> Nodding Head, which was too crowned, so back downstairs to, um, hmm, I forget the name of that place, but apparently the only food they serve is hot dogs. and the beer comes in very big glasses! Our last stop before home was ----> "the black hole" aka The Happy Rooster, which is a great place. Now, when I say "home" I do, of coarse, refer to our bar. Yay! Things get a bit blurry after that, but a good time was had by all, I'm sure;-)
Thursday February 3 - Just one or two...
"Sure, just a couple of beers, and we'll leave by 11 o'clock" are famous last words around our bar. Show me someone who can just stay for two beers, and I'll show you someone who is NOT having a good time. This evening was highlighted be deeper conversation, discussions about cultural perceptions, race, age, gender, and blue hair. And a new word was coined , "Intelectuality". Think sexy-smart, we're still working on the definition.
WHEW! Man, I gotta keep up with this blog better...
Friday February 4 - City Tap House (If you go, check-out restaurant.com for discounted gift cert.'s)
A quiet evening, just the three of us, chillin' in University City. They have a great beer selection (60 taps!) and possibly the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. I'm looking forward to going back at the end of the month for the Folk Fest reunion. After dinner we headed back to our bar, which was pretty happening as it usually is on Fridays. Surprise! A was back, with friends, new peeps who grew to luvrbar as the night progressed. The more the merrier, I always say! We had a great time, and great music, thanks to unknown Lady Gaga fans and C (But I forget the name of that song,again!)
Sunday February 6 - Super Bowl!
Uh-oh Scotty Karatti:-/ Scotty is a beer. I'm not sure what kind of beer, other then tasty, and strong. D is a great bartender, and I don't think my glass ever went empty whilst I enjoyed great company and (sort-of) watched the super bowl. O came down for a visit and enjoyed La Fin Du Monde, which is not as good as La Petite Mort, but pretty close;-)
